Every carpet manufacturer has its own warrantee. To maintain it follow the manufacturer’s specific requirements.
Following this spot removal instructions and using any spotter is done at your own risk! Prior to spotting, pretest it on an inconspicuous spot of carpet to ensure it does not discolor or damage it.
General instructions:
Please act quickly! The longer you delay the more likely the spill will become a permanent stain. Remember, staining is influenced by many factors, and no carpet is completely stain proof.
Directions
- Gently scoop all semi-solids with a rounded spoon & gently blot liquids with a clean white paper towel. Do not scrub!
- Switch spray nozzle to mist & apply a small amount of the spotter to stain area. Do not saturate! Work from the outside in. Let it sit for 20 seconds.
- Gently absorb stain by blotting with a clean white paper towel. Do not rub or twist.
- If there is a marked improvement, repeat. If no improvement, stop and call Expert Clean & Green- If in the San Francisco area- (415) 242-2428, and if in the Grass Valley/Auburn area- (530) 955-1835, for free advice.
- If stain is gone, mist with just water and blot until moisture is removed.
Re-appearing stains: Repeat steps 1 through 5. Cover with 10 layers of clean, white paper towels. Weigh down with a few books. (Separate books from towels with a plastic bag to avoid water damage to books.) Remove after 6-8 hours.
- Do not overwork a stain or it will permanently deteriorate your carpet!
- Never use products like bleach, mildew remover, oven/toilet/tile cleaners, or any product that was not designed or approved for use on your carpet. These products will cause irreparable damage.

Dry Cleaning Solvent: A commercial volatile dry (non-residual) spotter.
Water-base Paint: Remove excess with a spoon. Apply Detergent Solution and blot. Apply Ammonia Solution and follow with Vinegar Solution. If stain remains, apply Dry Cleaning Solvent. Rinse and blot dry.
Caution: This procedure is done at your own risk as it can damage the carpet if not done very cautiously.
